Larry Dincau
October 29, 1936 - March 28, 2009
Larry (Arthur) Dincau passed away at the Virginia Convalescent Center on March 28, 2009.
Larry was born on October 29, 1936, in Duluth to Arthur and Theresa (Dallavia) Dincau. Larry graduated from Denfeld High School in 1954. He moved to Virginia and worked at Bridgeman’s while attending Jr. College. In 1956 he enlisted in the Navy, serving two years. He then returned to Virginia, marrying Jennie Jaksa on January 4, 1958. He worked at North Star Drug until he started his business in 1960, Dincau Distributing and Vending, which he operated until his retirement in 1999.
Larry was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Virginia Elks Club, Mt. Iron American Legion Post 220, Italian-American Club, and past member of the Iron Range Retriever Club and the Mesabi Sno-Voyageurs Snowmobile Club having taught snowmobile safety training for over 25 years. Larry lived for his children and grandchildren and passed on his love and appreciation of the outdoors to them all. He especially looked forward to duck hunting, fishing, and spending time at the hunting shack with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie, of 51 years; a daughter Donna (Mark) Leese of Virginia, and grandchildren – Amy, Stephanie, and Jeff Leese; son David (Shelly) Dincau of Gilbert and grandsons - Mathew and Michael Dincau; son Dan (Becky) Dincau of Virginia and grandchildren - Joseph and Jennifer Dincau, step-grandson Ryan (Courtney) Aker and step great-granddaughter Kaitlin, and step-grandchildren Mason, Ian, and Brooklyn; special brother-in-laws Robert and William Jaksa, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Louise (McNeil) and brother Donald.
Personal Message
Larry called Virginia home for the past 55 years, even though he was not a VHS graduate. He loved living, working, and raising his children in Virginia. Larry was fortunate that he got to see his children and grandchildren grow up here and be a big part of their lives. Larry will live forever in our hearts and memories.Larry Dincau was a resident of Virginia from 1954 to 2009.
